There were so, so many poster mockups before RRR properly came out, people trying to imagine what the film ā with two superstars in it ā would be about.
This one is my favorite and, with the genius of @luxshine, this is clearly RRR: The PoRRRno.

and as for salaar, please take your time! I just reach your rrr royalty fic and I couldn't stop thinking about how royalty suits varadeva and even more how your writing style would suit them because uh I think what I just wanted to see was them through your eyes
but anyways I hope you have a good day! and I am sorry if I sounded pressurizing!
thank you! i'm glad people like the pride project <3 and yeah, the badhaai do really took 3 months of undivided attention but i'm super happy with it too! and yeah, the reddit fics were mostly just to break writers block but they're so fun~
i think i don't have it in me for a royalty au anymore after the rrr one, but i think you'll like the au i have in mind for varadeva. and "what i just wanted to see was them through your eyes" please you're too sweet
nope, not pressured, don't worry! you never know, i might just be encouraged to pick that au up again now~

2023 Recap
Tagged by @norashelley ā thank you! Finally getting around to this even though 2023 already seems like it was a thousand years ago. If @missanthropicprinciple or anyone else who sees this wants to do it, please do!
Iām only including new-to-me things although I did revisit old favorites in almost every category.
Top Films:
Marty (1955)
RRR (2022)
All That Jazz (1979)
Nomadland (2020)
The Father (2020)
Oppenheimer (2023)
Maestro (2023)
Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985)
The Fabelmans (2022)
The Ox-Bow Incident (1946)
Top TV Series:
I didnāt keep track of my TV viewing the way I did movies, so I feel like Iām probably forgetting something here. A lot of the stuff I watched was disappointing, but I really liked:
Only Murders in the Building
Poker Face
Loki
Top Books:
I read almost 70 books last year and unfortunately most of them were fine but not blow-my-socks-off amazing. I usually read primarily fiction but I read a lot of good non-fiction this year.
The Core of the Sun (Johanna Sinisalo)
The Art of Fielding (Chad Harbach)
Last Train to Memphis: The Rise of Elvis Presley and Careless Love: The Unmaking of Elvis Presley (Peter Guralnick)
Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI (David Grann)
A Prayer for Owen Meany (John Irving)
Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell (Susanna Clarke)
How Far the Light Reaches: A Life in Ten Sea Creatures (Sabrina Imbler)
King: A Life (Jonathan Eig)
Favorite Song:
Although there were quite a few new songs that caught my ear this year, for this category Iām going to list songs that I put on repeat at different points this year, even though they are old favorites. Iām sure Iām forgetting some because I mostly do this while Iām driving.
Never Too Much (Luther Vandross)
Sparks (Rocky Votolato)
God Only Knows (The Beach Boys)
Your Love is Killing Me (Sharon Van Etten)
Bottle Up and Explode! (Elliott Smith)
The Light and the Sound (Rocky Votolato)
Favorite Quote:
Iām not really sure what to put for this, but 2023 started with my husband and I both getting COVID (very mild cases, thankfully ā thank you, vaccine) and toward the end of the year he was hospitalized for a week with FLESH-EATING DISEASE (he is 100% fine now), so I will say that the āI lived bitchā meme was referenced a lot in this household throughout the year.

MONTHLY MEDIA: September 2022
Ooooh really getting into that fall weather over here. Staying in, cozying up, and watching stuff! Hereās how I spent September.
ā¦ā¦ā¦.FILMā¦ā¦ā¦.
RRR (2022) Incredible. Epic in every sense of the world. One benefit of watching it across a few sittings is that each time I sat down, I was about to see the coolest thing ever committed to film. It builds in such a way that Iād askĀ āwhoa how do they top this?ā and then they do. Please watch it.
Armour of God (1986) I almost didnāt finish this. The first two acts were a bit of a slog as Jackie Chanās character was surprisingly unlikeable and the action wasnāt keeping my attention. But then that final act kicks in and itās all worth it. Funny, impressive, and all-around fun. Really glad I didnāt abandon it.
Bullet TrainĀ (2022) Entertaining for the most part and some fun characters. It seemed like the sort of project where everyone is having fun so I canāt really fault that.Ā
ā¦ā¦ā¦.TELEVISIONā¦ā¦ā¦.
A League of Their OwnĀ (Episode 1.01 to 1.08) Despite reading plenty of reviews and opinions, I still didnāt realize just how gay this show is! The baseball element was more secondary than I expected, but the characters and plots are all really great. Wholeheartedly recommend.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Episode 1.01 to 1.05) The Hobbit is one of my most treasured books, but beyond that I donāt have much affinity for Middle Earth. With that said, Iām really digging this! Who knew fantasy could be hopeful while still having plenty of drama and mystery? Big fan so far.
The Bachelorettes (Episode 19.09 to 19.12) I really had high hopes for this season. It started strong and really put an emphasis on friendship; whatās not to love? But by the end of this season itās become clear that the show isnāt in the business of romance (if even temporary) anymore. Itās about making the most dramatic television possible at the expense of real people. Sure they signed up for reality tv but no one would sign up for the sort of stuff we saw with Tino and Rachel. I think Iām going to take a break from this franchise.
ā¦ā¦ā¦.READINGā¦ā¦ā¦.
Come as You Are: The Surprising New Science that Will Transform Your Sex LifeĀ by Emily Nagoski (Complete) While mostly written for those assigned female at birth, I absolutely recommend this for anyone to read. It gets into psychology, sociology, culture, anatomy, it has it all. Itās written in a casual and compassionate way that really reads like a conversation with a really informed friend.Ā Ā
Stages of Rot by Linnea Sterte (Complete) A rare book set on an alien world that truly feels alien. It builds this world that has notes of the familiar, sure, but the creatures and behaviours are driven by forces I donāt understand. Very cool and the limited palette really compliments the artwork.
ā¦ā¦ā¦.AUDIOā¦ā¦ā¦.
The Mars VoltaĀ by The Mars VoltaĀ (2022) Iāve never listened to The Mars Volta before so this is all new to me but really digging it! Is it a good representation of their work? Who knows. Certainly not me. If youāre a fan and want to suggest where I go next in their catalog, let me know.
ā¦ā¦ā¦.GAMINGā¦ā¦ā¦.
Neverland: A Fantasy Role-Playing Setting (Andrews McMeel Publishing) Despite Oz: A Fantasy Role-Playing Setting releasing this month, it was all Neverland for my groups! The Mof1 Crew spent most of their time in the belly of a giant beast (crocodile) and my Tuesday group has successfully tracked down a Pirate who fled to the Fairy Realm!
Thatās it. As always, feel free to send any recommendations my way and happy Friday!

okay HIIII so i've been seeing your rrr gay af posts and god. god. it feels like fresh air. i'm telugu and i thought i was the only person that found it sooooooooooo gay and just jsdhfkjsgh I CAN'T BELIEVE EVERYONE ELSE IS ON THAT LINE TOO OH MY GOD ASJDHSKHFSDG YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY YOU MAKE ME I FEEL SO SEEN OH MY GOD can we be frands i'm very very telugu and i'm very into everything else tdlfkgjdflgkjsdkgdjfg PLEASE THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY
OMG YOUR ENTHUSIASM ALREADY MAKES ME LOVE YOU!!!! Tbh when I first posted about the sheer gayness in RRR, I too thought that I would be the only person on here to do that. Because the rest of the mainstream media seemed to be hard sold on the "brotherhood" between these two.
I'm Marathi and if I'm being really honest, I didn't really like South Indian movies all that much (mostly because my Dad is obsessed with them and always puts them on whenever he's home Lmao). But then RRR happened and my eyes were opened WIDE. I love the film and it's brilliant use of symbolism and the mythological references and OF COURSE the blatant gayness of it all so much that now I really want to learn the damn language just so I could understand what the actors are actually speaking about in their interviews and watch the film in its original language all over again. Unfortunately Marathi and Telugu don't have a lot in common so it'll take some time but I'LL GET THERE ONE DAY!
Anyway of course we can be friends and it's always amazing to have more people join our little fandom!

I think the difference is crystal clear to me--RRR made us fall in love with the characters. We care about them AND what happens to them in a way that we don't about the characters in KGF. We only care about knowing what happens next in the plot (not unlike the in-universe reporter digging into the story) and not who drives it forward. Like they could replace Rocky with someone else and it'd be all the same, because the plot is the main attraction here, characters are secondary to it.
But that's not the case with RRR. We genuinely cared for Ram and Bheem (and the rest of the supporting cast obviously but talking of the main characters here) as individuals AND as a unit. We laughed with them, we cried with and for them, we felt everything they felt. They were fucking superhero levels of invincible at times, but that never detached us from seeing just how tenderly, vulnerably human they were. Because that connection was formed in the first half of the film, even the most outrageous action sequences felt believable. I think the fact that RRR was a two-hero-show also helps it here.
However with KGF they made Rocky the entire soul of the film and revolved literally EVERYTHING around him (guy has three damn songs dedicated to him like please they took the "God" thing too seriously) but forgot to give him an actual fucking personality so that we could actually care about what happens to him. Even when he *supposedly* died at the end I was like meh whatever. If that's the reaction to the main character of the film you can only imagine what kinda emotions (or the lack thereof) the others invoke.
Both the films were overwhelming, however while RRR gives you a sense of warmth and satisfaction, KGF simply leaves you curious.
So I just watched KGF 2 and while it's a great fucking action film, the plot is solid and OHMYGOD YASH IS SO AHHHHHHHHHHHH (in short my ovaries were very pleased Ahem) but it is so clearly a film by men for men because the female love interest is oh my god SO FUCKING USELESS and she hates the dude for like one and half of the films and then when she gets to know his sob story she conveniently falls in love with him, dances for him (after he'd VERY CLASSILY called her his "entertainment" earlier on) and sleeps with him ALL in the span of one fucking song before she's ultimately *spoiler* killed for his manpain, just like his mom was like Ugh give me a break.
Honestly that was such a put off for me that it made me cheer up for the people trying to kill Rocky Lmao. No really, his character really rubbed me the wrong way and the only redeeming aspect of him is that he's played by Yash. That's it.
(i know that I'm probably being too harsh but like if you WANT to make token female love interests in today's day and age then atleast do it respectfully like RRR did and add in the homoromantic element to balance it out instead of fucking shoving nonsensical romance into the audience's faces out of nowhere.)
#KGF 2 is a film made by straightā¢ļø men for straightā¢ļø men while RRR is a film made by straight men for gay people enough said.#RRR#KGF 2
